Ashlar Hall has always fascinated me, and was my inspiration for the Castle in Cravings.  Located in Central Gardens in Memphis, Tennessee, it was built 1896 by a prominent Memphis family, and used as their summer country home.  What once sat in the country is now in the middle of a bustling city.

It has stood alone for many years, looking for a purpose. It has been a private residence, restaurant, bar and the annual haunted house, among other things. Mostly it stands empty and abandoned, a sad existence for such a magnificent structure.

In recent years it has been sold to Prince Mongo, a local eccentric who insists he is a Prince from the planet Mongo. He is a colorful character, with an imaginary dog who travels with him, and who runs for Mayor (and luckily loses) every year. His attempts to open a new bar failed when he was ran out of the neighborhood, and it is once again empty.
